Traditional maths teaching doesn't work for everyone.

So my approach is intentionally different.

 Who is Confidence Counts Maths Tutoring for?

I specialise in supporting learners who:

  • Are at risk of not achieving a pass in GCSE or Functional Skills maths
  • Feel anxious about maths or freeze under pressure
  • Avoid maths because it feels overwhelming
  • Are neurodivergent or have additional learning needs and require a different kind of support
  • Have been told they are “behind” or believe they are “not a maths person”
  • Are being home educated and looking to make progress with their numeracy skills 

I also offer support to parents of learners who need a different approach to learning maths, helping them to feel better equipped to support maths learning, confidence building and exam preparation at home.

About me 

I'm Nicola, a qualified maths teacher with over 15 years of experience supporting learners to build their confidence in maths, particularly those working towards a GCSE Grade 4.

I began my career teaching maths in secondary schools before moving into further education, where I taught and managed maths resit programmes. I have also worked on national research programmes, creating interventions designed to improve GCSE maths outcomes, have designed and delivered training to maths teachers in the further education and skills sector. 

I am a trained Maths Mastery specialist, have experience working with SEND and SEMH learners, and have undertaken extensive professional development in trauma-informed practice.

I offer maths confidence building support services online and in person in the Chipping Norton area.
